Visual Impact

A Landscape and Visual Impact Assessment has been undertaken to ascertain the impact the proposals will have on the appearance of the site and local views.

Detailed discussions have also been held with the Peak District National Park Authority and the proposals have been amended following consultation, including omitting part of the original scheme that had the potential to create the largest visual impact.

The visual impact of fluorspar extraction is restricted to a relatively small area surrounding the site and would be short term and reversible. As such, the visual impact is not considered significant to fundamentally change the character of the National Park or the surrounding area.

Once mineral extraction is complete, the site will be restored to grassland and its impact within the wider landscape will be minimal. A series of photomontages has been prepared to demonstrate how the site will appear in the wider landscape.
