Fluorspar
Fluorspar is a rare mineral and is the industrial name for the naturally occurring mineral fluorite, also known as calcium fluoride (CaF2). The only remaining viable deposits in the UK are confined to the Southern Pennine Orefield, predominately within the Peak District National Park.
The extraction of fluorspar at Tearsall will make a significant contribution to satisfying the UK strategic need for the mineral. At present, Cavendish Mill processing plant requires an annual delivery of over 400,000 tonnes to meet needs of the UK Chemical Industry.
The development at Tearsall will contribute to meeting the demand from a local UK indigenous source.
